The woman, who wasn't identified, said she needed help Thursday morning at a mobile home in Topanga, Calif., north of Santa Monica. When paramedics and deputies showed up, she pulled a gun, police said, and the mobile home park was evacuated.

According to NBC News, police threw a flash bang grenade to no avail, and sent a robot to check on her. The 70-year-old woman shot the robot, they said.

After 22 hours, crisis negotiators "worked tirelessly throughout the day using various tactics to try and persuade the woman to surrender peacefully," the sheriff's department told NBC News.

The woman was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon against a firefighter.
