Monsanto Sued for False Advertising AGAIN!
• http://farmwars.infoRemember when products made with glyphosate sported the label "biodegradable" and Monsanto, the company that makes those products, was sued for false advertising fraud in New York in 1996? Guess what? Monsanto LOST and had to remove the "biodegradable" label from its product.
From the 1996 lawsuit:
F. Based on his investigation, the Attorney General believes that Monsanto's advertising represents, directly and by implication, that:
a) Monsanto's glyphosate-containing pesticide products and the components thereof are safe and will not cause any harmful effects to people or the environment.
b) Monsanto's glyphosate-containing pesticide products and the components thereof are safe because they will quickly break down into natural substances.
c) Monsanto's glyphosate-containing pesticide products and the components thereof stay where they are applied and will not movethrough the environment by any means.
d) Monsanto's glyphosate-containing pesticide products and the components thereof are good for the environment.
e) Monsanto's glyphosate-containing pesticide products and the components thereof are less toxic than certain common household products.
f) The characterization of Monsanto's glyphosate-containing pesticide products and the components thereof as practically non-toxic implies broad application to all potential toxic effects (acute and chronic).
g) The characteristics of Monsanto's glyphosate-containing pesticide products can be adequately described by the characteristics of glyphosate alone.
The Attorney General finds that the representations set forth in paragraphs E and F above constitute false and misleading advertising

You would think that this would change company policy regarding fraudulent practices, eh? Not Monsanto.
Another suit is placing Monsanto in the crosshairs for the very same thing – false advertising – except this time, it's for falsely stating that "the world's most popular weedkiller, works by targeting an enzyme supposedly found only in plants, but not in people."
According to the latest lawsuit: "…this is blatantly false. Contrary to Defendant's claim, Roundup targets an enzyme found in both plants and people."
Here is a portion of a Monsanto document available on its site under "safety and health," titled "What is Glyphosate:"
(Source: Monsanto Website)
In fact, nearly the entire document from the Monsanto website on Glyphosate Safety and Health appears to be a fabrication. But what's new? The company lies, gets rich, and we get sick. This is a pattern folks, not an anomaly.
"If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed." ? Adolf Hitler
According to the latest 2015 lawsuit:
CLASS ACTION ALLEGATIONS
(5) The Controversy: Defendant makes the claim that Roundup, the world's most popular weedkiller, works by targeting an enzyme supposedly found only in plants, but not in people. And this is blatantly false. Contrary to Defendant's claim, Roundup targets an enzyme found in both plants and people. Therefore, where Defendant advertises that Roundup targets an enzyme "not found in people," such claim is objectively false and inherently misleading. Plaintiffs seek a court order that strikes the offending slogan from all Roundup labels.
