By looking at worm, all that comes to our mind is the most humble and pathetic creature on the earth but wait, do you know about the unearthed distant cousins of worms?

A worm has been found in South China that lived 500 years back. Today, scientists from the Yunnan University in China and University of Cambridge in England stated in a press release about the discovery of a creature that is just like a worm in Xiaoshiba deposit. That worm is named as Hairy Collins' Monster because of the palaeontologist who found similar worm in Canada in 1980, Desmond Collins. Scientists issued a paper regarding legged-worm or lobopodian in journal for Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The fossil of Hairy Collins Monster discloses that it was a creature with the body similar to a worm that is enclosed with 72 huge sharp spikes. In addition, the creature had six pairs of legs at front along with feathery structure and at the back, there are nine pairs of legs with claws. Scientists hypothesize that this Hairy Collins Monster worm lived sedentary and inactive lifestyle that made it easier target and was attacked by another creature, so in order to protect itself, it developed 72 sharp spikes on its body and back over the time as it crept along the floor of the ocean.
