Trump stands firm with the Capitol rioters: Ex-President gives video message...

Former President Donald Trump said in a video message Thursday that those imprisoned for January 6 crimes were being 'tormented' and treated 'very, very unfairly,' and he would 'get to the bottom of it' during his 2024 White House run.

A staffer for Trump's Save America PAC announced the ex-president had filmed a special message for the Patriot Freedom Project's open house, a holiday-themed gathering for one of the most prominent groups providing legal defense for January 6 defendants.

'Patriot freedom is what it's about and that's not happening in our country. What they've done to torment people and go after people, like never before, I don't think anything like this has ever happened in our country before, certainly not to this extent,' Trump said in a video filmed from Mar-a-Lago.

'And you look at other groups which have done terrible things and virtually nothing happened to them,' the ex-president added.

He commended the group's leader, Cynthia Hughes, who faced criticism in February for stacking Patriot Freedom Project's board with family members.

'So it's a very unfair situation and we're going to be, as you know, looking about it and talking about it very, very strongly in the coming weeks, months and over the next period of a year, year and a half during the campaign,' Trump said.

Trump announced that he's running for the White House again, a week after the midterm elections.
