Now, Bill Gates proposes the use of gene sequencing, AI and satellite data to make crops "climate resilient", in order to "improve the lives of over 500 million farmers".

"We don't just want these improvements to be in the lab—we want them to scale up. We're impatient to see this done."

Why would a man who believes there are too many humans care so deeply about improving the lives of farmers?
