Shortly after the New York Times debuted its piece, "Justice Dept. Official Pushes Prosecutors to Investigate George Soros's Foundation," Open Society Foundations (OSF) published a statement on X, and the best their PR team could write in response is this:

The Open Society Foundations unequivocally condemn terrorism and do not fund terrorism. Our activities are peaceful and lawful, and our grantees are expected to abide by human rights principles and comply with the law.

These accusations are politically motivated attacks on civil society, meant to silence speech the administration disagrees with and undermine the First Amendment right to free speech. When power is abused to take away the rights of some people, it puts the rights of all people at risk.

Our work in the United States is dedicated to strengthening democracy and upholding constitutional freedoms. We stand by the work we do to improve lives in the United States and across the world.

NYT's report on Thursday afternoon cited Capital Research Center's report that connected the most crucial dots, finding that OSF "poured over $80 million into groups tied to terrorism or extremist violence."

Separate from NYT's story, and the actual report written by CRC's Ryan Mauro. He responded to OSF's statement on X, saying, "That's the best you could say about my nearly 100 pages of evidence that triggered the Trump Administration's investigation? Your rebuttal is just, "Nah,  we don't do that?"
