Republican Rep. Thomas Massie has remarried a year after losing his wife.

The Kentucky lawmaker, 54, wed 36-year-old Carolyn Grace Moffa in Pennsylvania on Saturday at a ceremony attended by Senator Rand Paul and Representatives Jim Jordan, Warren Davidson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Victoria Spartz.

The wedding comes after Massie lost his wife of 31 years and mother of their four children, Rhonda, on June 27, 2024. Her cause of death has not been released.

Massie and Moffa first met while she was working for Sen. Paul in 2016. He said she had even visited his late wife Rhonda on their Kentucky farm several years ago.

The timing of the wedding sparked a sickening backlash, including from Donald Trump ally Laura Loomer who is a frequent critic of Massie, who is known for rebelling against the president.

'Who gets married one year after their wife of 30 years passes away? Bizarre,' she wrote on X.

Allie Voss, a Christian influencer, commented: 'Torn to be honest, marrying the year after your spouse dies is FAST. That said I've also heard people remarry faster after happy marriages.'

Massie announced the wedding on Sunday, writing on X: 'Carolyn Grace Moffa and I first met professionally over a decade ago when she worked for Senator Rand Paul.

'As Senator Paul's Ag policy staffer until 2016, Carolyn was a very early proponent and practitioner of Making America Healthy Again. She even visited me and my late wife Rhonda on our grass-fed cattle farm several years ago.'

He said that Moffa, who has not previously been married, will live with him on his farm in Kentucky.

'I have four adult children, who are all married to wonderful people, and three grandchildren from my blessed 31 year marriage to Rhonda who I still miss every day,' Massie added.

The Republican lawmaker, who has voiced support for RFK Jr's health policies, proudly stated that raw milk was served with the wedding cake, along with peaches from his farm.

He revealed that he proposed to Moffa on the steps of the Library of Congress — the site of their first date.
