Trump's Dangerous Ravings

Trump's Dangerous Ravings

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

As commander-in-chief of America's military, he can order attacks on any countries, no matter their illegality.

Pentagon commanders must obey or resign. Relishing endless wars as a way for increased military spending, they're eager to wage them - a deplorable situation, risking armageddon if the nuclear option is chosen.

Pre-dawn Friday Trump tweeted: "Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely.  Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!"

The problem lies in Washington, not Pyongyang. As president, he's mostly responsible - his option whether to choose resolving contentious issues diplomatically or order military confrontation, madness if the latter, especially with China now warning it won't tolerate a US attack on the peninsula.

From August 21 - 31, America will hold provocative military exercises with South Korea - Pyongyang believes are preparations for war.

They include training for decapitation strikes to kill Kim and top DPRK officials. Trump saying "(t)hings will happen to them like they never thought possible, (and they're) getting away with a tragedy that can't be allowed" could translate from talk to action.

Sergey Lavrov called rhetoric from Washington and Pyongyang "over-the-top," adding "(t)he risks are very high. (Threats from both sides) worry us a lot."

"I won't get into guessing what happens 'if'. We will do whatever we can to prevent this 'if.' "

"My personal opinion is that when you get close to the point of a fight breaking out, the side that is stronger and cleverer should take the first step away from the threshold of danger."

Washington bears full responsibility for risking possible nuclear war. Trump's heated rhetoric inflames the situation instead of responsibly stepping back from the brink.

Separately, Trump lied saying "I don't think Iran is in compliance" with the nuclear deal. "I don't think they're living up to the spirit of the agreement."

"I think it's a horrible agreement." I think you'll see some very strong things taking place if they don't get themselves in compliance."

Iran fully complies with JCPOA terms. America breached them straightaway, the Obama administration imposing illegal sanctions for fabricated reasons, Trump doing the same thing, edging toward pulling out of the deal.

Seven IAEA reports verified Tehran fully complies with its terms, along with Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) principles.

Longstanding US hostility toward Iran has nothing to do with its political, economic or military activities, everything to do with its sovereign independence, along with standing in the way of Israel's regional dominance in partnership with Washington.

Trump commissioned a group of administration staffers to invent reasons to declare Iran noncompliant with the JCPOA - despite clear evidence otherwise.

If he pulls America out of the deal, he'll breach an international treaty, numerous earlier ones violated the same way, clear evidence of a lawless nation, operating by its own rules, no others.
