Nobel Laureate Suu Kyi Ignores the Rohingyas Genocidal Slaughter

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

She's no heroic figure, a deplorable national disgrace, still a Western darling, and why not.

She endorses the Myanmar regime's horrific agenda, replicating the US-led Western one on a smaller scale - a bloodthirsty pursuit for power, the human toll of no consequence, vulnerable groups like the Royinghas devastated.

They're among the world's most persecuted people, suffering for decades, their fundamental rights denied, oppressed and slaughtered by Myanmar's ruling junta, a ruthless regime, Suu Kyi complicit in its high crimes.

Satellite images show over 200 Rohingya villages burned to the ground. Land mines laid along Myanmar's border with Bangladesh threaten desperate people fleeing for safety. Junta officials disgracefully accuse them of faking their own misery to enlist world community sympathy.

Last year, Suu Kyi told UN human rights special rapporteur for Myanmar Yanghee Lee that the regime avoids using the term Rohingya to describe a persecuted minority - following a UN report discussing their deplorable mistreatment, amounting to crimes against humanity.

Separately, she cautioned against using what she called "emotive terms" in discussing the Rohingyas, deplorably claiming it makes things worse.

On Tuesday, she discussed them, ignoring their plight, failing to address the regime's mass slaughter, torture and ethnic cleansing, burning their villages, raping their women.

She despicably lied claiming "security forces have been instructed to adhere strictly to the code of conduct in carrying out security operations, to exercise all due restraint and to take full measures to avoid collateral damage and the harming of innocent civilians."

The Myanmar regime claims it's ridding the country of "Bengali" insurgents, alleging Rohingyas aren't natives of their own country.

Anti-Suu Kyi posters show her looking vampire-like, blood dripping from her open mouth, a sinister look on her face. She's no Mandela, far from it, uncaring about Rohingya suffering, ignoring their genocidal persecution and slaughter, enduring deplorable conditions and treatment, struggling to survive.

Lee said it's her responsibility to "step in. That is what we would expect from any government, to protect everybody within their own jurisdiction."

Suu Kyi's silence on the plight of the Rohingyas, her failure to support their rights, her complicity in supporting restrictions on humanitarian access to affected areas, makes her complicit with junta high crimes.

She denies clear evidence of their persecution and slaughter. According to human rights advocacy group head Matthew Smith, her "office is not only doing nothing to stop it, in some ways they're throwing fuel on the fire."

Critics call for rescinding her Nobel Peace Prize. Why bother when war criminals and other bad actors like Obama most often are recipients, peacemakers shunned.
