Drugs Won War
06-16-2009

This year marks the 40th anniversary of President Richard Nixon’s start of the war on drugs, and it now appears that drugs have won.
“We’ve spent a trillion dollars prosecuting the war on drugs,” Norm Stamper, a former police chief of Seattle, told me. “What do we have to show for it? Drugs are more readily available, at lower prices and higher levels of potency. It’s a dismal failure.”

Obama to axe bank agency in financial overhaul
06-16-2009
•
Reuters
The Obama administration plans to streamline U.S. bank oversight
and put the Federal Reserve in charge of monitoring big-picture
economic risks in a sweeping regulatory overhaul to be formally
unveiled, a senior administration official said.
The Office of Thrift Supervision, a Treasury Department unit, would
be closed and the federal charter under which savings and loans operate
eliminated under the plan, the official told reporters on a conference
call on Tuesday.

Here’s yet another huge financial story that has been virtually blacked
out by the US financial media. Although on the surface, this story
appears to be a non-event, if we consider some of the released facts
about this case, you will understand why I consider it to be a huge
story.

Obama wants new financial agency for consumers

AP
Setting up a certain fight with big business, President Barack Obama is proposing a new regulatory agency to police lenders and protect consumers in credit, savings and other banking transactions.
The consumer agency and a newly empowered Federal Reserve
will be two of the central elements of a broad overhaul of the
financial regulatory system that the president will announce today,
officials said.

Dems seek to trim health bill as estimates soar
06-16-2009
•
AP
Jolted by cost estimates
as high as $1.6 trillion, Senate Democrats agreed to scale back planned
subsidies for the uninsured and sought concessions totaling hundreds of
billions of dollars from private industry Tuesday to defray the cost of
sweeping health care legislation. At the same time, key Democrats disagreed openly among themselves over a proposed tax on health insurance benefits to pay for expanding coverage to the uninsured.

The Bliss of Ignorance

“I do not know with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”
ALBERT EINSTEIN
Presently, the Department of Defense is claiming that anyone
practicing civil disobedience by exercising their first Amendment
rights is committing an act of terrorism, albeit stately low-level. Why
is it that Americans, while touting freedom and waving flags, do
nothing about the erosion of our God-given liberties?
Even the Iranians are able to stage a protest large enough to grab
the attention of the globally controlled media. Granted, the escalating
revolution was undoubtedly set into motion by American interests. Never
the less, at least the Iranian patriots were enraged enough to gather
in action against an oppressive regime.
Meanwhile, treadmill bound lackeys, commonly referred worldwide as
ignorant Americans, remain content suckling the swollen tit of
government comfort.

Mohammed, a Muslim U.S. Marine vet, has been standing outside the Pomona Police department handing out 9/11 dvds and documentaries for several months and garnering support for a new investigation into 9/11/01.
The crowd of supporters in Superior Court stood up when Abdullah's name was called and made their presence known to both the City Attorney and the judge in what amounts to a case involving the right to free speech, religious expression and political dissent critical of the government.
