U.S. climate change bill to compete with healthcare
09-06-2009
•
Reuters
Environmentalists hope the push in Congress for climate change
legislation is not overwhelmed by the debate dominating Capitol Hill
over changing the U.S. healthcare system. But it might be.
Already two months behind schedule and unsure whether enough
Democrats will play along, Senate leaders still aim to pass a bill by
December when a United Nations summit convenes in Copenhagen to set
worldwide goals for reducing carbon dioxide and other pollutants.

The Silence of the Antiwar Movement is Deafening
09-06-2009
•
Counterpunch / John V. Walsh
Obama is
an enormous gift to the Empire. Just as he has silenced most of the
single-payer movement, an effort characterized by its superb
scholarship exceeded only by its timidity, Obama has shut down the
antiwar movement, completely in thrall as it is to the Democrat Party
and Identity Politics.

Cops are here to keep us safe
09-06-2009
•
RadGeek
Cops are here to keep us safe by killing 10-year-old kids on
bicycles while tearing down the road at at 30 mph over the posted speed
limit with no lights and no sirens on.
If you or I slammed into a 10 year old on a bicycle while doing
70mph in a 40mph zone on a major thoroughfare like Belt Line, we’d be
crucified in the press and locked away for years on a vehicular
homicide charge. But since Senior Corporal Michael Vaughn is a cop,
even though he admittedly violated established policies for safe
driving and killed a 10-year-old child through his recklessness, he
gets Internally Investigated and given a one day vacation from his job.

Did Ron Paul Predict 9/11?
09-06-2009
•
Lew Rockwell
Press conference Dr. Paul gave on CSPAN in December of ‘98, the day
Clinton deflected attention away from his looming impeachment by
launching a bombing campaign on Iraq. I found it refreshing to see him
full of such righteous indignation. Especially interesting was his
warning that the president’s actions today will lead to terrorist
attacks tomorrow.

At some Afghan polling places, Karzai got every vote
09-06-2009
•
McClatchy News
Detailed polling records released by an Afghanistan election
commission reveal numerous polling places in Kandahar Province where
all the votes were delivered to a single candidate " incumbent
President Hamid Karzai.
The records bolster the case of
ballot-box stuffing during the Aug. 20 election to pick a new president
to lead Afghanistan, which is now struggling against an increasingly
powerful Taliban insurgency.

The rate is nearly three times the national rate and four times the rate of skilled and experienced workers over the

This is the highest rate ever recorded in the United States.

Test the waters of the real free-market

Examiner / Kent McManigal
Free trade, without government "permission", is probably the
most powerful place to start, after your recognition of your
self-ownership. "Trade" is moving beyond the self into the wider
world. If you really want freedom, it is necessary. You have to start sometime and somewhere.

Will Rand Paul Take up the Federal Reserve Fight in the Senate?
09-06-2009
•
American Banking News
Over the last few months, there has been a growing movement to bring transparency and new levels of accountability to the US Federal Reserve. Congressman Ron Paul has been leading the fight in the House of Representatives. There’s no champion fighting in the US Senate to bring accountability to the Federal Reserve, but that might change if one Kentucky senatorial candidate gets elected.
Currently in the U.S. Senate, there’s a piece of legislation similar to Ron Paul’s H.R. 1207 which would bring new levels of accountability to the Federal Reserve by allowing the GAO to audit the Fed. The legislation, S.604: The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009, introduced by Bernie Sanders of Vermont, currently has 23 cosponsors. Unfortunately, the legislation is currently sitting in committee and hasn’t gained much momentum.
This could all change if Randal (Rand) Paul an American eye-surgeon, political activist and son of Ron Paul, gets elected in his bid for one of Kentucky’s two slots fo

A piece of heavy equipment was used to topple two towers for Everett radio station KRKO, and the national Earth Liberation Front says their members are responsible.
[A neighbor] said he got up and left his house in time to see one of the two towers
fall. He then grabbed a shotgun and charged across the field, chasing a
man he says he saw getting out of the excavator used to knock down the
towers.

DPS appears to have all but pulled the plug on its usage of Redflex mobile photo radar units on state highways, CameraFRAUD has learned.
Deployment of the mobile photo radar vans was already on a noticeably gradual decline over the past few months, when the “talivans” seemingly disappeared altogether from roadways around the beginning of September.

Classically Liberal
The fear-mongering of Bush, combined with the hysterical cries of the
"secure the border" crowd led to new restrictions. These restrictions actually restrict
Americans not terrorists or would-be gardeners and day laborers.
The
war on terror was a fraud from the start, it was always a war on
Americans. Every measure that was passed was used, first and foremost,
against Americans not against potential threats to the country. All the
new spying on bank accounts isn't being used to crack down on drug
cartels or international terrorists but on Americans who have funds
overseas, where the greedy hands of politicians have a harder time
grabbing them.

Indiana police force catherization on DUI suspect after passing breathalyzer

An Indiana man gets pulled over for suspicion of DUI. He passes a breathalyzer.
Police still believe he is drunk so they take him to a hospital, strap him to a gurney and force a catheter into his penis.
Then they stick a needle in him to remove blood.
When a blood and urine test determined Jamie Lockard was still under
the legal limit, police charged him with obstruction of justice.

Stealth Expansion of Government Power

Tenth Amendment Center
Take tax policy. A 131-page document (pdf) issued by the Treasury goes way beyond recommending the extension of some of the expiring Bush administration tax cuts. For example, the fine print contains over a dozen ways of discouraging American firms from doing business and investing overseas. Supposedly minor technical changes also would have a severe impact. For example, eliminating LIFO (last in-first out) inventory accounting will raise business taxes over $60 billion in one decade. The Treasury also wants to revive four corporate environmental taxes that were eliminated in 1969. These four arbitrary taxes have no relation between the tax burden imposed on a company and the pollution that it generates. This bears an uneasy resemblance to Willie Sutton, who robbed banks because that was where the money was. Inevitably a variety of technical tax provisions will increase the paperwork burden on business. The penalties for failing to file information returns (such as Form 1099) pro

Does Obama Face a 2012 Challenge In His Own Party?
09-06-2009
•
Rasmussen
Leading liberals are already thinking the unthinkable: Challenging President Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2012.
According to a report on the left-leaning Huffington Post website, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann and Eugene Robinson, an African-American national columnist for The Washington Post, discussed just such a possibility Thursday night. Robinson said Obama needs to be careful how he handles the health care reform issue and the continuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.Olbermann said the president has “compromised on everything so far and as self-defeating as it may be, the progressive caucus and progressives would abandon him if necessary, if this was to be the policy of this administration into 2012. If it’s necessary to find somebody to run against him, I think they’d do it, no matter how destructive that may seem.”
