"Target Practice" - New Times article on Sheriff Joe Arpaio & The Ron Paul Revolution

Written by Subject: Police State

"During a photo session with the band Sheriff Arpaio would ask him about the Ron Paul Revolution shirt he was wearing,...
I'll post the photo as soon as I get a copy :)"

I've often talked about Arpaio on the radio and have even debated him on live television, but I didn't know I was being targeted. Well, I always assumed that I was an individual of 'interest' :)

The article give the impression that I announced in the past that I intended to run against Sheriff Arpaio. The accurate news is that often on my radio show I would detail the qualifications for a candidate that I would support and have many Arpaio / Hancock stories that I have shared on the airwaves. But I always portray Arpaio as a byproduct of a much deeper problem.

While I was the morning show host at KXAM I targeted law enforcement in general about Arizona being #1 in auto theft but only taking reports on the phone for insurance company documentation and not using resources to do their job of protecting Life, Liberty and Property etc. I took a few weeks to focus on the idea that a diligent Sheriff could at least move Arizona to #2 in auto theft with any real effort.

The result of this focus was the purging of over 3500 libertarians from the voter roles so that the Libertarian Party voter numbers were just below the number required to have ballot status and the ability to run a candidate against Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

For the 2008 election cycle the Maricopa County Libertarians made the cut for ballot status by 75 voter registrations :)

I look forward to supporting a committed libertarian for Maricopa County Sheriff. This campaign would focus on the proper role of Law Enforcement in a Constitutional Republic. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is nothing more than a side effect of this country's slide into a Police State.

Joe and I have a long and cordial history. He knows exactly what I think and why but I have never made it a personal thing. Like all politicians I see them as followers and not leaders. They represent what needs t be changed,... not the change that is needed. Of course this has made me a target,... but a rapidly moving one :)

I got the best advice from a very close friend when I first started to get involved opposing the Bad Guys back in 1989, "If you'll stop being so paranoid,... all of those people will stop following you". The real wisdom I got from that statement was that while you may be 'targeted' it shouldn't have any impact on your focus. I just assumed that everything I do is known by everyone (I often count on it to have the effect I seek - Bad Guys are very predictable and you can use that to your advantage - The coming Super Bowl Ron Paul Revolution week will be a very good example of this that we'll discuss after the fact :)

The fact that I have never advocated violence of vandalism and always respect the rights of others while insisting on my own rights, very publicly has been my greatest protection. But I do not fear the reaction of those in power to my exercise of my right to express myself, I use their reactions to help make my point. So, those in power are very helpful, aren't they?

This morning at the radio station preparing for my show I heard from the crew and another host that I was mentioned in this article. I haven't read it yet but I'm sure it'll provide some of the background of what we deal with regularly here in Arizona.

Just last night there was an "Arpaio Roast" in Sun City where over 500 people paid $15 to hear Arpaio be roasted. A friend of mine is in the band that sang parody songs making a little fun of the Sheriff and his troubles over the years. During a photo session with the band Sheriff Arpaio would ask him about the Ron Paul Revolution shirt he was wearing,... I'll post the photo as soon as I get a copy :)
