Coddling criminals ("It's not his fault", he can't help himself"), only perpetuates revolving-door privately owned, for profit prisons.
Gun bans don't work, look at UK. Any criminal can still get all the guns they want. Honest citizens cannot defend themselves and violent crime is up 80% from pre-ban levels.
