So GM, Chrysler are going under, and your federal government is busy buying up shares to eventually own them, and our new Imperial leader announces as one of his first dictates that the hemorrhaging auto industry must henceforth sell Goremobiles.

Aside from inquiring the obvious of where in the hell he ever got the authority to dictate standards to anybody, it should be asked what motivates anyone to claim out of one side of their mouth that they are trying to save to value to fail corporations and out of the other side of their mouth dictate orders that harm them more? Why the motive is to hasten the takeover of the economy of course. I pity Ford Motor Company when they must compete with the new GovCorp automobile, which will undoubtedly be exempt from numerous government regulations and be subsidized to compete with privately manufactured Ford, and the various free trade imports that are permitted into the country.

Funny thing is we'd probably see more "GoreMobiles" is we let Detroit sink. Green technologies, faster, more efficient technologies, radically new technologies are being pursued by companies with the real American initiative and creativity.

The one counter-point I'd make to Fascist Nation's comment above is that an industry that has come begging for handouts and subsidies for decades should have every expectation of government intervention.

Sorry but when you sell your soul the ownership is converted.
