CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Want government assistance? Just say no to drugs.

Would it not be fair to say that each and every politician, policeman, firemen, government employe etc. receives government assitance in the form of a pay check? Then would it not also be fair to say that all of them should be required to take ramdom drug test and if they fail they would no longer get a pay check? Does anyone agree or not agree with me?

An interesting moral philosophical question arises here. Does willingly going on the government dole, at taxpayer expense, end your individual sovereignty over your own body? I would say yes. To the extent that you willingly take taxpayer money, you give up your rights. There has to be an exchange. Nothing is free. I don't want my taxpayer dollars going to support the drug habits of some degenerate who is working the system. Personally, I don't believe in government assistance at all. Charity, in the few cases that it is actually necessary, should come from private individuals and organizations who freely choose to give, not through government coercion based funding, a.k.a. public welfare programs.

As for government employees, I don't believe the same applies, as they are actually (theoretically anyway) working for the money. Our tax dollars do pay their salaries, but we are getting some value.
