Jim Stach. One of the most extreme posters here on FP. I've often objected to his material. He's highly confrontational and he doesn't shrink from a media-fight. Criticize him and he'll come out with guns blazing. Why he's critical of FP is beyond me, he covers the site like wall paper on some days.

Nice one Ernie. Why is it the "militia" guys always have these titles? "Sub-Commandante of the 5th Battalion, 3rd Mounted Regiment of the Army of the West Mississippi" or something.

I remember an early Ed Brown conference call when one of these clowns pledged an "army". "I can mobilize my whole army" said one.

I guess old Ed is still waiting for that army. He got the federal one instead.

Occasionally we see a post where persecuted people call for the "militia". "Where are all you milita types to protect us?" they say. It's poingant and heart-wrenching but I keep telling people there's no cavelry coming over the hill. John Wayne is dead.

All I've seen of the "modern day militia movement" are organizations doing the exact same charity outreach and toy runs as any other civic organization. I've seen that and I've seen overweight old men who just can't stop playing GI Joe with their buddies on weekends.

When I read the MIAC report I near about fell out of my chair laughing. Part of it described some sort of "evidence" that "militias" that have "achieved operational capabilty to the squad and firing team level".

This is indeed the kind of language you hear from these same militia types. In other words, the "evidence" is these same guys spouting off their overly-rommantic bulldoink.

Case in point: Ed's "Constitution Rangers". Featured in the MIAC report as a threat, nobody has ever met another Constitution Ranger but Ed himself.  We did get an email from someone claiming to be his second-in-command (he probably had a title too, LT, General, Colonel, 5-Star Briggadier General, take your pick) who explained that he was moving his "forces" to the hills to manage their other "duties".

And that's the last we heard of them. Forget not that a central tenet of the "Rangers" was to protect each other with their lives against federal aggression. Well, obviously they were a total fail right out of the box. Their first fight was their last one.

In summary: I think it's a lot of hooey.
