Wide use of the lowly electric motor first occurred in the late 1880's. For 6,000 years of recorded history, many "appliances" were human-powered. Probably 85% of all workers served as motors for these "appliances". Society was structured around this level of technology and margins of production. World wars were the only way found to utilize this leap forward. Here we go again.
