Did NASA Accidently "Nuke" Jupiter?

In 2003, NASA deliberately directed its still-functioning Galileo spacecraft to make a 108,000 mph suicidal plunge into Jupiter’s atmosphere. Thus ended the successful eight-year NASA Galileo mission in a literal, most fitting “blaze of glory.”
