With metal detectors as advanced as they are,
and laminates as advanced as they are,
and metal sheet making processes as advanced as they are,
anybody could make currencies, with embedded gold and silver, that was protected from loss of embedded metal by the laminate, and verifiable anywhere as soon as the metal detectors were distributed everywhere.

We no longer need a currency that has no intrinsic value.
