U.S. must live within its means: Geithner

• Reuters
The United States must live within its means once its economy recovers if it is to preserve global confidence in the U.S. dollar's status, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said on Friday.

"It is very important that Americans understand that we need to do everything possible to sustain confidence in our ability to keep inflation low and stable over time and to make sure we're getting our fiscal house in order," Geithner said.

People need to understand what the United STATES really is.

If you go to the border between the US and Canada, or the border between the US and Mexico, or the borders between any two states in the United States, how will you know that you are there, on the border?

Most of the time, the only way you can tell where the border lies is because of the man-made border markings. If there are no border markings, you can only guess exactly where the border lies - because the land is exactly the same on both sides of the border.

You can see from this that the "state" is only really a state of mind.

It seems that the United States is a state of mind that involves living outside of its means. If the US ever started living within its means, it just might be a totally different state.

Of course, there was a time when the state of the State was to live within its means. So how and when did we get a different State - or as some call it, a different United States?
