Large Explosive Eruption at Ecuador’s Tungurahua
• Wired.comUPDATE: It appears that pyroclastic flows are crossing the road at Los Pajaros.
UPDATE 7:15 PM EST: Some reports are now putting the ash plume height at 10 km / ~32,000 feet while the Washington VAAC advisory mentions ash as high as 14 km / 47,000 feet. According to the official IG-EPN report, pyroclastic flows apparently moved down the slopes of the volcano in all directions as well.

Looks like the southern hemisphere is going to have a cold winter. Remember, their winter happens during our summer. Good thing the winds generally stay in their respective hemisphere, or some of that might blow over here.
Ecuador. What a funny name for a country. What does it mean? Equator? Oh,oh. A volcano on the equator (or almost). Maybe the whole world is going to get a cooling effect from this one!
