Ferrari-killing electric supercar edges closer to production

• http://www.dvice.com, Colin Druce-McFadden
Boutique automaker Rimac has been flaunting its electric Concept One prototype since 2011, but a recent $11 million infusion of cash has brought this once-impossible car closer to reality than ever before. The new millions will be used for testing and to set up (very limited) production. Six Concept Ones are already being produced for those folks at the top of the company's waiting list — each of whom will shell out $1 million for the right to own the car.

It's a hefty investment, but then you get a heck of a car for your money. The Concept One boasts four electric motors that combine to churn out 1,088 horsepower and 1,180 foot-pounds of torque. It goes from 0-60 miles per hour in a Ferrari-swatting 2.8 seconds and tops out at a healthy 190 miles per hour. As for range, it'll definitely outlast your gas-guzzler at 373 miles to the charge.

If you'd like one and have the funds, get your name on that waiting list pronto. Only 88 Concept Ones will ever be produced, and you'd better bet that Mr. Musk has his eye on one of them.
