While government officials state inflation is well under control, families around the nation are still feeling the effects of higher prices at the supermarket. Several essential goods for living have continued to experience rising prices, squeezing family budgets. For many products, manufacturers are reducing the quantity or quality of their goods to keep prices stable. Bags of sugar that once weighed five pounds now offer just four pounds for the same price. Boxes of cereal have been redesigned to hold less food in a box that appears to be the same size. The situation became pronounced since the global economic crash of 2008.
