A new LED screen can roll up like a sheet of paper. This technology could soon change the nature of media, and home living.
The flexible display has been introduced by electronics giant LG. This first model features an 18-inch screen that rolls up into a cylinder just over one inch in diameter. Similar designs could soon be used to build flexible televisions up to 60 inches across, the company reports.
In-Byung Kang, vice-president of LG, stated, "We are confident that by 2017, we will successfully develop an Ultra HD flexible and transparent OLED panel of more than 60 inches... thereby leading the future display market."
Newspapers might forever be changed by the invention. Combined with a microprocessor, pictures in newspapers made from paper could move, like a scene from Harry Potter.
