Killing Birds ~ Veggie List 3/14/15 ~ Fat Cat Market

What a beauty, pictured here is a large Green Romaine head.

I read a letter to the editor I saw in the West Valley View newspaper.  It was about killing birds at the Estrella Mountain Community, evidently, the Newland Communities have been feeding poisoned feed to the wildlife bird population around their lakes.  Either the hired staff or a separate agency was netting (out of the lakes) dead and dying birds floating on the water's surface.  When I read this, I was so damn mad, (excuse my french).  why in the world would they build these lakes if they didn't want the birds around?

It doesn't stop with killing those birds. It's a domino effect.  Other non targeted wildlife will die  from the poisoned feed.  Rodents will eat the feed and owls, hawks, bobcats, mountain lions, snakes and many other animals will eat the tainted animals, feed them to their young and whole families will die from the stupidity of these humans….and I'm sure if they are doing this, then other HOA's are doing the same thing.

I think  if the HOA communities don't want the birds then they should drain the lakes, level them out and build more houses they do that anyway, destroying the habitat by ripping out vegetation, taking away shelter, food and making the wildlife feel very stressed out by crowding them into smaller territories.

I think it was Einstein who said, "without birds and bees, the human race will die within seven years of their extinction."  As a natural farmer, I depend on the birds to keep the bad insects in check.  Fifteen year ago, I could count on large flocks of Yellow Rumped Warblers, Yellow Warblers and White Crowned Sparrows to migrate into my farm to help keep the aphid population under control. These small insect-eating birds maneuver themselves under the low-lying cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels Sprout leaves and eat themselves full of aphid.  Now, I'm lucky to have five or six warblers and a handful of sparrows on my farm each winter. The aphid problem?  It's getting worse. This year was bad. I lost thousands of dollars worth of crops because there wasn't enough of my feathered friends to help keep the crops safe.

Without birds, illness, famine and plagues will kill the human population by way of the insects that carry diseases……..and then what?
