Under the bright mountain stars, he kindled a small campfire. When the flames grew high, he threw the journals into the fire, then shot himself in the head.
Mr. Schlagel's death Dec. 9 was the 14th suicide in his military unit — the Second Battalion, Seventh Marine Regiment — since the group returned from a bloody tour in Afghanistan in 2008. Many other members have attempted suicide, one just three days after Mr. Schlagel's death.

Vietnam Veteran. The REAL war starts when you get home. It doesn't take long to see - the "lucky" ones died on the battlefield. No sense talking to the shrinks or medical doctors of the VA. All they'll do is poison you up with drugs when at least half of the problems these guys face when they get home is the chemical poisons they were exposed to in the war zone. Prescription drugs ARE chemicals too. We had the Agent Orange to deal with but in today's wars its much worse. The systemic poisoning starts with the vaccinations before they ever get to the war zone. They receive many more vaccinations than we did. (which I didn't take because I was a medic and could forge the Captains signature). Plus you know damn well there's chemical war going on over there plus depleted Uranium. The second half of the equation is the war itself. It IS insanity and it ISN'T legitimate. Within two months of arriving in Vietnam I knew the whole thing was a sham. War is ugly, real ugly. You can't partake of all that ugliness and remain a functional personality. It changes you at a core level. You will never be the same. The only possible answer is to clean your systems out from all the poisons and then good ole Confrontational therapy for your mental integrity. Its tough but it works. You DO get yourself back but you are still changed. You can use that changed personality to get involved with stopping ALL the wars permanently. Your empathy levels go through the roof. You care now and that's a good thing. Now you're healthy enough to do something about it. You ARE a legitimate veteran of the big lie. You did indeed survive it. Add your consciousness to the whole. The ONLY legitimate war is the war AGAINST the ones who do the wars. If you've been on this site for any length of time at all you know who "they" are. Doc
