Regarding the above, libertarians are mostly a bunch of scared and meek individuals who never organize themselves to ever challenge laws like the above. They tend to whine over abstract or big things that they hope big politicians will do something about, like the Patriot Act. Now, instead of trying to keep our rights to socialize anonymously and broadcast our personal contact information as we see fit, we are supposed to be concerned about helping Wayne Allen Root's financial bottom line by helping keep gambling online unregulated?
Sheeple...look out for what is important for YOU (dating and socializing), not for what a vested financial interest wants you to care about (their gambling ventures).
Sure, I agree that online gambling should be legal, but I think even online pornography is more important. Where are the libertarian articles that talk about the status of that issue?

When will Ron Paul finally start discussing the IMBRA law which forces Americans to be backgorund checked before being allowed to communicate with foreigners online? IMBRA also forces foreigners on dating sites to sign paperwork, not once but every single time an American wants to make contact with them. In the age of webmail, a foreigner who uses webmail to communicate with Americans is not really affected by this draconian unconstitutional interference in the hello process between two private individuals, but IMBRA makes it illegal for a foreigner to broadcast their cell phone number or postal address anymore.
This is the gateway law that the socons and feminists wanted to legally regulate MySpace and Match.com and endrun the Supreme Court decisions upholding anonymity on the Internet.
Soon, especially if McCain gets elected, we will have to all identify ourselves to even post a comment somewhere online.
A Bush appointed federal judge, Thomas Rose, said of IMBRA: "There is no fundamental liberty interest in an American contacting a foreigner".

I'm not sure who you're worried about making money, but, in a nutshell, the company is aggregating demand. The article quotes them as saying they "aren't selling futures" which is true; they're buying futures. They sell the gas from one contract at the spot price. The funds garnered from selling the gas goes to buying another contract.
If the spot price increases, they profit from appreciation of their contract. If the price goes down, they profit from the difference between what the customer paid and the spot price at the time the customer sells the remaining gallons to them.
It's not such a "sophisticated hedging strategy" as they intimate.

This assumes the price of gasoline will decrease -- I assume -- to make money. The only problem I see, is it removes incentive for the consumer to shop for a cheaper gallon of gas, instead they would simply buy gallons at whatever price where it is most convenient.

The picture highlighting the link to this rticle is Richard Jewell, the hero of the Atlanta Olympics, who discovered a bomb and got many, many people away before it exploded. Only to be arrested by the FBI, slandered by psychological profile into being the bomber himself.
He was later completely exonerated, but not before having his honor dragged through the mud. He died early, but he died a hero.
While I cannot lump Dr. Hatfill into quite the same category, he was equally vilified by the FBI, DOJ and press for being the one who had brought a Canadian study to the attention of the government after the anthrax mailings that forewarned of this method of dispersion. He worked as an unrelated virologist at the same place the anthrax bacteria probably came from. He pretty much had his career destroyed.

As Ernie indicated, this is about the Republicans trying to get the conservative vote out for McCain. I didn't know they were that worried about Obama in AZ. Secondly they should worry more about whether those conservative Republicans -- those that give a rip about gay marriage -- are willing to hold their nose for McCain. A lot of them probably aren't going to vote for McCain, and certainly not Obama.

Of course this editorial misses many points. One that the Fed arrogantly and incorrectly assumes it controls much of anything. Though its artificial manipulations of the currency and the marketplace does lead to economic chaos.
That inflation due to lack of value in the dollar is largely responsible for increasing gasoline prices rather than the other way around. Though concomitantly increasing fuel prices adds to the price of everything transported by fuel, which is to say everything you buy such as groceries.
Middle Eastern instability, threats in Africa and South America by US forces, and other military/ rebel actions leads to supply insecurity which increases the speculative price of oil.
And of course massive regulatory burdens on the oil import, production, refining and shipping companies comes out of our pockets along with petroleum taxes added all along the way.

TO answer Time magazine's question of what is next for gun control? Pretty much whatever they wish has now been expressly approved by the Supremes. Oh, they will have trouble restricting the use of muskets and smoothbores in someone's home, or black powder revolvers. Those seem protected by Scalia's tome. For now.
But I see no prohibition against demanding their registration before you can possess such in your castle.
Everything else is up to the various government's to "decide." Regulation for public safety, public good and to protect our brave law enforcement officers from resistance, I mean harm, is hunky dory to use the Latin vernacular favored by the justices.

Now why can't the NLP do this? Instead of relying on CSPAN to give you a couple of hours of coverage. Like who gives a flip if CSPAN covers or not. That is their business and they are welcome to do whatever they wish at our convention, but there is no reason a gavel to gavel presentation cannot be broadcast to those who cannot make it.

Great review, Ernie ! Your comments about how our youth are being poisoned thru the big screen are right on the money...our money! The changes at the movies we saw starting in the 1950's reflected a new paradigm designed to draw children into various traps of disrespectful sex and violence so different from the wholesome fare offered earlier. The comingling of sex and violence is especially disturbing and the degrading nature of much pornography is a case in point. As are the "snuff films" we hear about. We are not talking about art or the beauty of human beings, we are talking about rampant debauchery and degradation, death and despair in filmfests which inure and mislead impressionable minds. Which is just what the New World Order desires for a dumbed-down populace perpetrating more crimes and upholding fewer dignities, creating evermore opportunities for intervention by government in the zeal for "diversity" where "equal rights for all" will mean no rights for any beyond death and decay in a world of servitude. "Jesus was a libertarian!"

They keep their power and money betwixt them by intermarriage. Through connections, money and violence these powerful double-crossing families slipped in with one ultimate goal: the establishment of a One World dictatorship. Fear and depression form part of every day life and everywhere people feel discouraged and down because of social, spiritual, physical and emotional problems. Our society has grown more harsh and ruthless every day. Children are becoming more aggressive and have no respect for adults. Famines (every day more than fifty thousand children die), increasing criminal activities, illegal drug dealing that ruins the lives of millions of people, terrorism, unemployment, climatic changes, corrupt world leaders, continuous non-ending wars and the increase of diseases such as AIDS and Avian influenza (Bird-Flu), all contribute to at least one notion that many people agree on: Mankind needs another world. Many ask themselves: "Where is this world going? Where does this road lead us to? How did we get into this chaos? What else awaits us?" There is no consequence without a cause. What is the reason for our fears? Of course there are a lot of self-centered and heartless people, but they are not the main offenders. The origins of the fear are deeper and clearly lay somewhere else.
We are raised, by tradition, to trust our governments, and convinced that they care about us. This, however, is a big mistake. Below the surface of official politics lies a complicated social and intellectual process that is taking place. The famous Victorian statesman Benjamin Disraeli once alleged: "The world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes."
Edward Bernays, a nephew of Sigmund Freud, claimed in his book Propaganda: "We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas-suggested, largely by men, that we have never heard of. In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conductor or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons."
The German politician Walter Rathenau, a man who was very influential during his life, declared in the Neuen Wiener Presse of December 24, 1912: "Approximately three hundred men that know each other and that appoint their successors themselves determine the faith of this world. Their power exists in absolute confidentiality."
R. Buckminster Fuller claimed: "Great nations are simply the operating fronts of behind-the-scenes, vastly ambitious individuals who have become so effectively powerful because of their ability to remain invisible while operating behind the national scenery."
