Thanks for sending out another legislative update April/2016.

I will vote no on 123/4.

I have not spent the hours that you and fellow bureaucrats, politicians and lobbyists have researching the financial numbers.

However, government financial number most always lie.  

Government programs most always exaggerate, distort and simplify the math.  These programs cost the non-government worker and most importantly the unborn and the under voting age trillions of dollars.  The trillions of dollars of debt are immoral and the greatest disease and disservice the country can do and have done to the future generations.  The "greatest generation" as stated by Tom Brokaw began the way to enslaving the youth and future citizens via debt.  

Regarding pensions for the 2nd responders (remember family members or the citizens that are on the scene first are the first true responders).  Why do police and paramedics (rarely are there fires) have their own pensions.  Why don't they pay into social security?  Why do they even have pensions - a no pension proposition would save even more money. Let the second responder invest their paycheck as they please.  if there are 10 job openings for the paramedic department - there may be 3-4 thousand applicants, perhaps more.  A good government sector job.  Perhaps there could be 10 chosen that would take a salary (perhaps lower), and as public servant just say no to a taxpayer funded pension that most certainly is well beyond the estimation of the best actuary.

I think there is enough police.  We live in a police state.  I do not want more government workers.  No more added police, sheriffs, NSA, FBI, CIA, Border patrol, DEA, secret service, air marshals, ICE, TSA, homeland security, correctional facilites and all the military that backs them up.  There is plenty.

I currently pay very little property tax compared to states in the northeast and west coasts.  I think part of the reason is that Arizona has had a late start with the number of government workers as the state didn't have many people until the 1980's.  Arizona did not have the liabilities that many of the older states are indebted to such as the great state of Illinois. If the public servant pension/entitlement is not stopped, we can expect to pay the large pensions and eventual debt/taxation as the other states.

Ok, that's all for now…thanks for letting me express and I know either you or a staffer will read my note.  

Thanks Debbie for your work and if I could give one bit of advice, stay out of the stadium business.  Those sports teams/owners are so full of sh*t!  Perhaps more than politicians.

Lesko Legislative Update

April 2016

Why I VOTED YES to refer Propositions 123 and 124 to the ballot:

A. Proposition 123 (Education Funding): Republicans and Democrats in the AZ Legislature voted to refer Proposition 123 to the ballot in order to increase funding for K-12 education and to resolve a long-standing lawsuit. The legislation is a result of negotiations with the schools, teachers, legislature, and governor's office.

I voted YES to refer this to the ballot because:

It adds $3.5 Billion to K-12 education over 10 years without increasing taxes.

$2.2 Billion comes from increased distributions from the state land trust which is in place to help fund education.

$1.325 Billion comes from the legislature's decision to increase state general funds to education and reallocations.

Protections are added to ensure that state trust land assets are protected for the future. The state land trust ending balance is projected to increase from the current $4.8 Billion to $6.2 Billion by 2025 even after the increased distribution to schools.

B. Proposition 124 (Pension Reform): Proposition 124 is the result of the legislation I sponsored and worked on for over a year. It passed out of the Senate unanimously and out of the House overwhelmingly.

I voted YES to refer Proposition 124 to the ballot because:

It protects and sustains the fire fighter and police pension system.

It saves taxpayers over $1.5 Billion.

It saves the cities, counties, and state money so more law enforcement and police can be hired.

This proposition is a result of over one year of negotiations with the fire fighters, police, cities, counties, Republican and Democratic legislators, and the governor's office.

Kathy Inman is the Executive Director of MomForce AZ.  She has been an advocate for cannabis and other social issues since 2003.  As a woman raised with a respect for life, a mother who wants to keep kids safe, and an Arizonan for personal liberty and less government intrusion, she has taken her questions about cannabis to officials across the state. She understands there are many social issues of great importance, but believes not one of them has touched every aspect of our society the way cannabis prohibition has.

MomForce AZ was established to address the very obvious questions regarding addiction, toxic substance abuse, and the over-prescribing of legal pharmaceuticals that has kept our country on a cycle of addiction for decades.

From starting the Phoenix chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws in Phoenix in 2008, to serving as State Director from 2012-2014, I am confident that I speak for the majority when I say "Arizona is Sick of Prohibition". 

People are improving, extending, and sometimes even saving their lives with the medicine in cannabis.

MomForce AZ, formerly known as Phoenix March, was incorporated in 2011 as an outreach to women.  My hope is to empower other women to speak out and tell what they know about cannabis. We are the mothers, grandmoms, aunties, and sisters our families trust to give them medicine, food, and advice. We have an obligation to learn all we can to help them, and our communities as a whole.  

Talk about cannabis with your family, friends, and co-workers. 

I am not a paid lobbyist. I am just a Mom. 

The more ordinary people stand up for what is right, the less there will be that is wrong.
