A former high-ranking U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
agent who had worked in Nogales, Ariz., and had a residence in Green
Valley has been arrested on suspicion of cocaine smuggling charges.
The suspected criminal activity that Richard Padilla Cramer has
been charged with occurred in 2007 while he was working as an
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Guadalajara, Mexico,
according to a criminal complaint issued on Aug. 28 by the U.S.
Attorney's Office in Miami.
More proof that the war on drugs is an abject failure. We need to change
tactics so that the drug cartels have the $$ motive removed. The drug problem
should be considered a medical matter not a criminal one.
There are far to many non violent drug 'offenders' in jails & prisons who
should be let out.
This could be done by RE-legalizing all drugs & dispense them through
dispensaries. There should also be Consequences Of Use education.
RE-legalizing all illegal drugs & controlling them would take away the
profit motive from the drug cartels & eliminate a lot of corruption that has
infected law enforcement at many levels.
If we did that being a LEO would be a lot safer. So would be being a private
citizen.
