Dr. Darby points out that a lack of an enzyme called COMT, is responsible for the correlating lack of break-down of the patient’s own adrenaline. Thus, when excess adrenaline is present because it simply can’t be sufficiently broken down, due to lack of the enzyme, then one gets the mania. Doesn’t that make complete sense?
