Suffer These Crimes in Oakland? Don't Call the Cops
• Lori Preuitt and Kris Sanchez via NBCBayArea.comOakland's police chief is making some dire claims about what his force will and will not respond to if layoffs go as planned.
Chief Anthony Batts listed exactly 44 situations that his officers will no longer respond to and they include grand theft, burglary, car wrecks, identity theft and vandalism. He says if you live and Oakland and one of the above happens to you, you need to let police know on-line.
Some 80 officers were to be let go at midnight last night if a last-minute deal was not reached. That's about ten percent of the work force.
"I came her e to build an organization, not downsize one," said Batts, who was given the top job in October.

Oyate that was just stupid It's "the love of money is the root of all evil."
I guess I'll do a teaching on this.
money as the root of all evil.
Many a mountain boy has been driven to destruction over having too much money. The mountains themselves are replete with stories about the guy that "got some money". All the stories revolve around us getting our hands on some money and just beign compltely irresponsible with it.
Everybody expects us to be these paragon of virtues but trust this one thing: don't let us mountain boys anywhere near the alcohol. You might think you have a lot but the real trouble comes in where we're looking for more. That's why you people need fireaerms. Because of guys like me.Hells boys if I was you I'd just open fire as soon as you see me coming.
There's only one of you I'm afraid of and that's Ed. Or perhaps Renee. I'm pretty scared of Renee. But let's improve your odds. Scare me.
Go ahead. Give it a try.
