After two years, $2 billion in ads, and more stump speeches than we care to remember, Election Day 2012 is finally here — but the race between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney is still too close to call.

Now, it will all come down to a handful of battleground states — Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nevada, and New Hampshire — whose combined 95 electoral college votes will determine which candidate stacks up the 270 votes needed to win the race.

But not all of the swing states are created equal. Only a few states actually have the power to decide the election, and the first states to report results will likely tell us a lot about how the election will swing.
