Here's The Burger-Flipping Robot That Could Put Fast-Food Workers Out Of A Job

The company's robot can "slice toppings like tomatoes and pickles immediately before it places the slice onto your burger, giving you the freshest burger possible." The robot is "more consistent, more sanitary, and can produce ~360 hamburgers per hour." That's one burger every 10 seconds.

The next generation of the device will offer "custom meat grinds for every single customer. Want a patty with 1/3 pork and 2/3 bison ground to order? No problem."

Momentum Machines cofounder Alexandros Vardakostas told Xconomy his "device isn't meant to make employees more efficient. It's meant to completely obviate them." Indeed, marketing copy on the company's site reads that their automaton "does everything employees can do, except better."

This directly raises a question that a lot of smart people have contemplated: Will robots steal our jobsOpinion is divided of course. Here's what Momentum Machines has to say on the topic:

We're going to need more police, special police, that will track all these robots to keep their AI down.

The idea of all kinds of robots that are not AI, is great. Think of what a wonderful life you would have if your servant robots did everything for you. You could be like the rich people who have servants for everything. We could all be that way if we wanted.

We could all go on welfare, and instead of earning a paltry $1,000 a month from Government, we could collect a $Million a month.

We could travel anywhere we wanted, and live the lifestyle that we chose. And the only people who would be disadvantaged by this kind of living, would be the standard politicians and law enforcement, who love to torture people simply for the fun of it. Of course, we might be able to make robot people that would look and act just like real people for them to play out their fantasies on, while the real people could live the good life.

Think of it. Permanent welfare, with robots doing ALL the work, making all the money paying all the taxes, and even repairing themselves, ALL for free to us, so that we could live the good life.
