I think it has something to do with countries wanting to get on Elon's good side.

Las Vegas is building out a 68 mile Boring company system with 104 stations connecting everything along the Vegas strip to the Airport. This is likely in the $2 billion cost range. A similar sized Dubai Loop system would also be a few billion. The current phase 1 pilot will only be 11 stations and 17 kilometers (11 milees) of tunnel. This wuld be about $200 million.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, in partnership with The Boring Company, have jointly announced they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bring TBC's Loop system to Dubai as Dubai Loop with a 17 kilometer pilot Loop transportation system as the initial phase of the project.

Dubai, under the visionary leadership of His>/A> Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has consistently aimed to be at the forefront of global urban development. The initial Dubai Loop pilot will have 11 stations and 17 kilometers of tunnel and will transport over 20,000 passengers per hour, with the goal of ultimately expanding into Dubai Loop, a next generation underground transportation system throughout the Emirate of Dubai. This collaboration will explore the use of sustainable, innovative technologies to safely and efficiently transport passengers via The Boring Company's proven Loop system, which has already transported over two million passengers across Las Vegas, USA since 2021. Vegas Loop is currently under active development and has been entitled for 104 stations and 110 kilometers of tunnel, eventually transporting over 90,000 passengers per hour throughout the system.

xAI and Grok 3 and AI Leadership

Elon talked Grok 3 being released around the end of February, 2025.
Elon said Grok 3 should beat all other AI models on all tested metrics.

He said xAI might take a definitive lead that they will keep holding from Grok 3 onwards.
