Mitch McConnell's political career will officially come to an end next year.

The AP reported a few moments ago on Thursday that the former Senate Majority Leader will seek reelection next year, ending a decades-long career in Congress.

McConnell provided the AP with the following remarks in advance of his retirement announcement.

Seven times, my fellow Kentuckians have sent me to the Senate. Every day in between I've been humbled by the trust they've placed in me to do their business here.
