The administration faced fierce reaction from gun-rights advocates and both Republican and Democratic lawmakers who argue the stance conflicts with both Second and First Amendment protections.

One can support enforcement of immigration laws and still demand that the government respect constitutional rights and bear responsibility for violations. 

UPDATE: New video footage shows Alex Pretti, eleven days before he was shot and killed by federal agents, spit at border agents and then kick their vehicle, knocking the right side tail lights off of the SUV. This shows that Pretti was not a passive protester. It is unknown what may have happened before the outburst. Law enforcement stopped, tackled him to the ground as the crowd became reactivce, and then they let him go.
