French building underwater nuclear power plants

In a bold plan to bring clean, dependable energy to remote coastal communities, the government of France has given the green light to an innovative nuclear power program. France revealed its new nuclear policy on January 20, 2011. The French company, DCNS (formerly the Direction Technique des Constructions Navales), is a military defense firm with a 350 year history. The vision France and DCNS have incorporates the use of miniature, underwater reactors. The first in such a series, Flexblue, is being touted as the future of offshore nuclear power plants.
