"How Could This Happen in America?" Why Police Are Treating Americans Like Military Threat

• Alternet
Why is the armed might of the state, (necessary in waging war against foreign enemies) being applied to domestic policing of local communities and peaceful protests?

But where protest is peaceful -- maybe loud, maybe deliberately annoying, combative in its rhetoric, even possibly illegal, yet not actually violent or dangerous -- treating it the way a state normally treats an outside military threat will give many Americans, across a broad political spectrum, a gut problem.

Government claims that it is protecting the citizenry.

Pardon my cynicism, but it appears to me that what it's actually (increasingly) doing,  is protecting itself . . . FROM  . . . the citizenry.

The article misses the point:  the cops are doing what they are doing because they can. It's been so long since anyone seriously brought law enforcement to task for their systemic violations of human and civil rights that those violations, and the philosophy that encourages and supports them, have become the standards of operation for many individual police and for their departments.

On the other hand, what they are doing is PRACTICE.

And, on the other hand, they don't know what else to do; since they are so poorly trained and so poorly manned (an officer's mental status is as critical to proper police work as his/her physical abilities and skill sets), and unable to perform in a professional, efficient, and effective manner, they tend to revert to the simple-minded, theug-type responses to threats - real or imagined.

Make no mistake, the government is counting on "locall law" to function as a front-line deterrence force, when they finally get around to openly enslaving all of us. Cops probalby don't understand it, but they are being played. Of course, many of the misfits with badges are probably savoring their presumed coming opportuniies to further abuse people and exercise their "superior" status; all with the blessing of the feds, of course.

All of this is happening because we've been sold out by the traitors in what passes for "congress". Get used to it; it's far too late to do anything to reverse the trend.

It should be asked, 'Was this OWS put together by the US government for the sole purpose of bringing in a new law, S.1867?' Everyone knows that the government sends in goons to cause disruption in peaceful demonstrations to make it look like the demonstrators are causing the rioting, which gets out of control causing a police crackdown. So why not having started this OWS to get the dissenters out of the woodwork, make them look bad in the general publics eye, and wham-o, you get S.1867 somehow already written up and ready to go before congress to be passed. How convenient.

Venancio Tan, you do know that Chili and like 20 other nations are freer than us right?

Ya, its disgusting how things are going. Educating people on why we don't support state run police forces and why local security forces is a better and more controllable.

Based off what I understand from Alex Jones, things are going to get worse before we have to stand up for ourselves. Educate as many people as we can on what freedom is and maybe the nwo will back off from knowledge that the masses understand they are the enemy of the world.

Know all ye …! Anti-State-Government thugs within cannot and can never win their internal war against this great nation of liberty and freedom. Shooting cops dead literally and figuratively by acid-mouth-throwing will not work but will only self-defeat their cause.

The American people can easily distinguish between a cop, the good guy, and a mobster or a drug-trafficker, the bad guy, no matter how anti-State-Government thugs dresses up the latter as an angel [the Guerena drug-dealing case], to prop up their losing struggle.

The enemy within, some of them disguised as Libertarians in extremis, may continue to air their anti-government grievances, but that will not change the course of the war against them.

But let me say this out of this long economic experience both in the Academe and in a life-long career in real life: It is a nightmare in dreamland for anyone to wake up from a long Rip Van Winkle sleep and say at first blush that the Economy continues to erode and would soon bust. What’s the pitch behind it for saying this will only remain as the subject of conjectures and second-guessing.

I must say to you all that the greatest Economy of this richest and mightiest nation on the planet, may falter but will neither alter itself from the self-re-enforcing, self-healing push-button-cure economy that it is, nor will it disappear from the face of the earth. It is most outrageous for anyone to say out of ignorance that this giant economy will self-implode and just vanish in thin air. If that is so, then you better evacuate yourself and your family to Mars if you can before it is too late.

Most nations of the world – if not all as time goes by -- model their governments from this Lincolnian Government of the people, by the people and for the people. Obviously, some American ingrates within are not proud of it.

In the enemy’s mental state of anarchy, the Federal Government will remain their most feared-hated enemy.

You must be aware that this freest nation on the planet hosts a parasite. It attacks the Government, eats up its innards and weakens its power.

But these freeloaders are ALWAYS under control. They can kick and punch the wall but they cannot break the glass of their confinement and public isolation. The United States of American will always stay healthy and strong to vanquish any threat to national security or defeat any kind of enemy that rears its ugly head from sunrise to sunset or anytime of every single day.

To put it in the most understandable way: This Government is NOT the problem – it is the solution to the problem.

See? Posters reveal themselves here all of the time :)

This is encouraged for the education (and often times the entertainment) of the readers.

When the Comments are directed at individuals as 'ad hominem' (personal) attacks I am far more likely to delete the comment and sometimes even the accounts of repeat offenders (because I can).

When I first put on a badge we felt our duty was to serve and protect the people of our community.   Over the years I have watched that duty swing to one of police being used to control the people - and they use ever greater force, and more readily so, to effect that control; SWAT teams used to serve simple warrants - Tasers, once used on rare occasion, now used daily, out of laziness or incompetence - Suspects, some as young as 15, shot 10 to 20 and more times - Police 'orders' have become the Law Of The Land - Shaved headed snearing police walking about looking more like military commandos in black combat fatigues - and the list goes on.  Police, once feared by the criminal are now becoming more and more feared and distrusted by the people.

Abuse by the police has always existed to some extent, and was often punished when found out, but more and more it has become protected by those who govern, and that increasing abuse isn't likely to abate until the people push back with equal force - a sad scenario.

Let’s treat "cross-eyed" cynics that in their own form of thuggery abuse cops – jackboot enemy they like to kick in the _sssss -- exactly the same way! I suggest next time cops should use this modern spray on barricading demonstrators and violent, rock-throwing protesters – the "Bengal Roach Spray". It was formulated to first irritate roaches before they drop dead.

The advertised label reads: "Roaches are not only annoying; they carry disease and are extremely hard to get rid of."

The subversive anti-State-Government disease they carry kills our liberty and freedom similar if not worse than Al Qaeda terrorists killed more than six thousands in 911.

This is from the nation’s Police Elites who are fighting back to clean up the neighborhood of annoying bugs – I mean of pestering thugs: Read more: How to Spray for Roaches | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_4514610_spray-roaches.html#ixzz1f0wBbj5r

Know what?  Most of these protests are not organized and have no common goals--as mentioned by many people.

Ever think that this means MANY individuals are saying to themselves  "hey,I'm not happy with things...I need to speak up "!!

THAT is HOW things really get done--NOT by some sheep following a lead ram.

They (I) protest damn near everything! Almost NOTHING the government does is truly in our interest anymore. The few decent actions Congress takes are contingent upon a nasty law or regulation being attached TO it. Someone always gets screwed.

Certainly some protestors are misguided or have no goals or are even contrary to your (my) way of thinking! Point is that these "movements' are indicative of big problems and DO help to awaken some of the ignorant, blind, uncaring, fatalistic masses to what is really going on in the world. More folks will get thinking and may actually see and understand the situation.

The participation of various philosophical views means that they are all exposed to what FreedomsPhoenix posts... that was the whole point for the creation of the site... "Injection of the libertarian infection into the bone marrow of American politics". This is accomplished in various ways. But one of the most effective is encouraging non-libertarians to express themselves in an ocean of competing ideas.

One of the concepts that will be emphasized more over the coming months will be that sooo much "public property" increases the confusion over what the role of government should be. Private Parks, private squares (Malls etc.), private land, privately owned land and schools and buildings and sidewalks and roads and and and. help make it very clear what the role of local police is.

As the Economy continues to erode, the "Public Lands" are going to be swept of anyone trying to survive 'off grid'.

The left starting to worry? Covert Arabic Fifth Columns within with Islamic connection and their Media anti-Government mouthpieces are worried too. The surveillance camera is tailing them. They are having sleepless nights. But it requires more than just Obama’s tasers, clubs, guns and goons to defeat those who imagine that the Government and the State are the enemy, not Al Qaeda.

I am glad you ask. You ask why? It’s because you are your own worst enemy! The war you wage within is more deadly than that of our foreign enemies. Domestic policing of local communities is an absolute necessity, and rarely are your protests peaceful. The armed might of the State is absolutely necessary to see to it that you do not win this war.

The commie is ordering them to be trained that way. Commies have infiltrated our CIA, FBI and every phase of our protective branches in order to have them turn on us when he declares martial law. He's got it all in place now to take us over and stay in power. Who knows - the OWS group may be his civilian army in training to take over the streets when he calls for martial law. Plus he will call out UN soldiers and National Guard and probably Chavez's army to take control of Americans. He has it all planned out and doesn't intend to step down, no matter what.
