1 Comments in Response to Larken Rose vs. Tom Willcutts (History... Debate on "Authority" and "Government
I noticed the "So it doesn't repeat" title, which alludes to the paradigm of cyclical history. Someone included a BSG (remake) icon with another posting of this interview. Here is an interesting germane anecdote:
An Anecdotal Illustration of Cyclical History
There is a somewhat amusing anecdote related to the cyclical paradigm of history:
Why are there so many elephants in India?
Once upon a time, India became overrun by mice.
To get rid of the mice, cats were brought in.
Next thing you know, the mice are gone and cats are everywhere.
Solution. Dogs.
Same thing. Cats are gone and now there are too many dogs.
Solution: Tigers (bigger cats!).
You guessed it. Dogs are gone, now there are too many tigers.
Solution: Elephants.
What scares elephants?
Mice!
So, when there got to be too many elephants, they just decided to leave it that way.
And that's why there are so many elephants in India.
