Hollywood Making Major Gun Control Movie
• http://www.prisonplanet.comFilmNation Entertainment, which previously released the remake of Red Dawn and the film Lawless, has green-lit a drama entitled Ms. Sloane in which an anti-gun lobbyist pushes through federal gun control legislation by targeting the gun rights lobby.
The star of Zero Dark Thirty, Jessica Chastain, is expected to be offered the lead role and director John Madden, who is best known for directing Shakespeare in Love, is currently in negotiations to helm Ms. Sloane, according to Deadline Hollywood.
"[Chastain] would play the lead, the seasoned lobbyist who, with her small team of politicos, attempts to pass the hot-button legislation into federal law while going up against well-financed and unscrupulous members of the gun lobby," entertainment reporter Patrick Hipes wrote.
While other movies are filled with anti-gun propaganda, such as the latest Planet of the Apes film and numerous other documentaries, the proposed Ms. Sloane is notable for having an entire plot that promotes gun control as well as major distributor backing and it may also encourage other studios to produce similar anti-gun movies.
Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has already expressed interest in developing a film attacking the Second Amendment.
"I don't think we need guns in this country and I hate it, and I think that the NRA is a disaster area," he said in an interview last year. "…I'm gonna make a movie with Meryl Streep and we're gonna take this issue head on."
"They're gonna wish they weren't alive after I'm done with them."
