Tim Burton's Live-Action 'Dumbo' Trailer Introduces the Rest of the Circus

On Wednesday night, Disney released the first full-length trailer for the live-action remake, which is scheduled to be released early next year. Tim Burton is directing the redo of the 1941 animated classic, with Michael Keaton, Eva Green, Colin Farrell and Danny DeVito playing the parts of V. A. Vandevere, Colette Marchant, Holt Farrier and Max Medici, respectively. Dumbo himself will be rendered in CG.

Ehren Kruger (Ghost in the ShellTransformers: Age of Extinction) penned the screenplay.

Though plot details are being kept closely under wraps, early descriptions of the pic suggest that it is following some plot points of the original, wherein an act featuring the titular Dumbo, an elephant with large ears, revives a struggling circus with a flying act. The circus, though, has plans for exploiting the animal, and he soon must strike out on his own.

Changes include the fact that some characters from the original film have been excised from this adaptation, and there are some new additions, including Neils Skellig (played by Joseph Gatt) and Miss Atlantis (Sharon Rooney). The new live-action film also promises deeper backstories for circus performers surrounding the star elephant.
