of the state's hate groups, the Nativist movement and White-supremacist
organizations.
The Montgomery, Ala.-based non-profit organization identifies,

According to the center, the number of hate groups nationwide has
risen 54 percent since 2000, fueled by opposition to non-White
immigration, the economic recession and the election of the nation's
first Black president.

Imagine getting a great photograph of your hunting partner shooting at a pheasant, then finding out it’s illegal to possess that photo.
Imagine going to the video store to rent a copy of your favorite hunting show, only to find the shelves bare. When you ask the clerk where they are, he tells you that the films are now illegal and that you can’t buy or rent them anymore.
This may sound like something out of 1984, but in United States v. Robert J. Stevens, the U.S. Supreme Court will decide this fall if photos like the one above, or video that shows hunters shooting at game, violate a 1999 federal law (18 USC § 48) that bans depictions of animal cruelty.
To reduce fraud and discrimination, a federal system to verify that workers are U.S. citizens or legal immigrants
must use biometrics such as fingerprints or iris scans, experts told a Senate panel Tuesday.
The current E-Verify system, which checks employee-eligibility forms against records in the Social Security and Homeland Security databases, can be easily thwarted by illegal immigrants who steal or are given someone else's identity, experts said.
The only way to stop that kind of fraud is to focus on a person's
unique physical characteristics to identify them, said James Ziglar,
former commissioner of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service and a senior fellow at the Migration Policy Institute.

The Senate Homeland Secuirty Committee hearing this Wednesday on “Reevaluating the REAL ID Act” was a sham,

allowed to testify were those who prefer the PASS-ID bill to substitute
an alternate national ID card mandate. Critics of any national ID need not apply to be heard as part of this debate between Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum.
Area drivers looking to outwit police speed traps and traffic
cameras are using an iPhone application and other global positioning
system devices that pinpoint the location of the cameras.
That has irked D.C. police chief Cathy Lanier, who promised her
officers would pick up their game to counteract the devices, which
can also help drivers dodge sobriety checkpoints.
"I think that's the whole point of this program," she told The Examiner. "It's designed to circumvent law enforcement -- law enforcement that is designed specifically to save lives."
The new technology streams to iPhones and global positioning system
devices, sounding off an alarm as drivers approach speed or red-light
cameras.
Lanier said the technology is a "cowardly tactic" and "people who
overly rely on those and break the law anyway are going to get caught"
in one way or another.
It was common
on the left to intimate that George W. Bush was like Hitler, a remark
that would drive the National Review crowd through the roof
but which I didn't find entirely outrageous. Bush's main method
of governance was to stir up fear of foreign enemies and instigate
a kind of nationalist hysteria about the need for waging war and
giving up liberty through security.
Hitler is the
most famous parallel here, but he is hardly the only one. Many statesmen
in world history have used the same tactics, dating back to ancient
times. Machiavelli wrote in his Art
of War advice to the ruler: "To know how to recognize an
opportunity in war, and take it, benefits you more than anything
else."
But what's
the point of studying Hitler's rise to power unle
