AIG should be liquidated, not enabled
This is a complete cop-out. AIG should have been thrown into chapter 7 liquidation, but it was not in order to accommodate the monetization of AIG's derivatives counter-parties, led by Goldman Sachs. THAT WE ARE AWARE OF, close to $100 billion dollars has been shuffled from the U.S. Treasury, THRU AIG, and into the coffers of the investment banks who stood to lose $10's of billions from an AIG bankruptcy.
So instead of saying "hey man, we need to pay someone really well with Taxpayer money to oversee the transfer of wealth from the Government to Goldman Sachs," we should be asking ourselves why AIG hasn't already been liquidated. AIG will ultimately cost the Taxpayers $100's

It's a curious phenomenon. Every once in a while, maybe every six months or so, some event in the media reminds Whole Foods (WFMI) shoppers that the company's (in)famous CEO John Mackey most likely doesn't share their political beliefs. financial regulation by proposing to hike the fees big financial firms
pay for federal oversight while easing the burden for smaller ones,

The new two-tiered, pay-for-regulation approach is intended to
partly cover the costs of more vigorous bank regulation and a new
consumer financial protection agency. It reflects the administration's
view that large banks and lenders should pay more because they are more

A man suspected of making threats against the White House was
pulled from his car after an hours-long standoff in the
parking lot of the Federal Building in West Los Angeles.
