SIBEL EDMONDS' DEPOSITION: VIDEO AND TRANSCRIPT RELEASED

BRAD BLOG ALERT
Long-gagged FBI whistleblower's full under-oath testimony from Ohio election case, details Congressional blackmail, bribery, espionage, infiltration, more...
Just over two weeks ago, FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds was finally allowed to speak about much of what the Bush Administration spent years trying to keep her from discussing publicly on the record. Twice gagged by the Bush Dept. of Justice's invocation of the so-called "State Secrets Privilege", Edmonds has been attempting to tell her story, about the crimes she became aware of while working for the FBI, for years.
Thanks to a subpoena issued by the campaign of Ohio's 2nd District Democratic U.S. Congressional candidate David Krikorian, her remarkable allegations of blackmail, bribery, espionage, infiltration and criminal conspiracy by current and former members of the U.S. Congress, high-ranking State and Defense Department officials, and agents of the government of Turkey are

Former NM Secretary of State Indicted on 50 Counts

Rebecca Vigil-Giron, who oversaw New Mexico elections for 10 years,
was indicted on 50 counts including fraud or
embezzlement, money laundering, tax fraud, tax evasion, illegal
kickbacks, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy.
Like last year's indictment of 13-year Monterey County, CA, Registrar of Voters, Tony Anchundo on 43 criminal counts, and last March's indictment of six Clay County, KY election officials
for changing votes at voting machines and showing others how to do it,
Vigil-Giron's indictment reminds us that democracy thrives on checks,
balances, and transparency --- and is threatened by conditions that
force us to trust in election officials.

NY Considers Law to Ban Shackling Pregnant Inmates
08-25-2009
•
AP
For nearly four hours before she gave birth, Venita Pinckney had a
chain wrapped around her swollen abdomen. Her ankles and hands were
shackled.
The 37-year-old was in a maximum-security prison for violating parole.
An officer told her the use of restraints on pregnant inmates was
"procedure."
"I'm saying to myself, 'I feel like a pregnant animal,'" said Pinckney,
who gave birth to a boy at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility last
year.

Young Afghan Guantanamo inmate freed, returns home

Mohammad Jawad, one of the youngest detainees to be held at the U.S.
detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, said after his
return home to Afghanistan he had been abused and humiliated during 6 years in custody. A teenager when he was held, he was accused of
war crimes for throwing a grenade that wounded two U.S. soldiers in
2002, but was ordered freed in July by a U.S. judge who threw out his
confession because it had been obtained through abuse.

Internet pirates will be banned from the Internet
08-25-2009

AP
[First they came for the Jews] People
who download copyright-protected films and music would have
their Internet connection cut off under proposed laws.
The Treasury
Minister said previous plans, which would only have
restricted users' broadband speed, did not go far enough. That
potential punishment remains under the new proposal, but is accompanied
by the possibility of blocking offenders' access to download sites as
well as banning them from the Internet altogether.
Civil-rights
groups and Internet service providers criticized the proposal as
unnecessarily restricting users' rights without doing much to tackle
online piracy.

Every Critic a Racist

During the presidential campaign, Barack Obama’s supporters promised that his election would allow America to “transcend race." Among the headlines:
The Boston Globe: "Obama shows an ability to transcend race”
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “Obama's success suggests we can transcend race”
But of course that hasn’t happened. Jonah Goldberg writes:
It was Obama’s supporters who hinted, teased, promised, and prophesied that Obama would help America “transcend race.” But now, it is they who shrink from their own promised land…
From Day 1, Obama’s supporters have tirelessly cultivated the idea that anything inconvenient for the first black president just might be terribly, terribly racist.
Goldberg has plenty of examples:
For instance, actress Janeane Garofalo summed up the tea parties thusly: “This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up.”

Needed: A Death Panel for the Fed
Paging Dr. Ron Paul.

Lew Rockwell
“Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value " zero.” ~ Voltaire
“The Federal Reserve in collaboration with the giant banks has created the greatest financial crisis the world has ever seen. The foolish notion that unlimited amounts of money and credit created out of thin air can provide sustainable economic growth has delivered this crisis to us. Instead of economic growth and stable prices, (The Fed) has given us a system of government and finance that now threatens the world financial and political institutions. Pursuing the same policy of excessive spending, debt expansion and monetary inflation can only compound the problems that prevent the required corrections. Doubling the money supply didn’t work, quadrupling it won’t work either. Buying up the bad debt of privileged institutions and dumping worthless assets on the American people is morally wrong and economically futile.” ~ Representative from Texas Ron Paul questioning Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke

Government (And Car Dealers) Hose You Again
08-25-2009

The Market Ticker
This is hilarious:
But many of those cashing in on the clunkers program are surprised when they get to the treasurer's office windows. That's because the government's rebate of up to $4500 dollars for every clunker is taxable.
"They didn't realize that would be taxable. A lot of people don't realize that. So they're not happy and kind of surprised when they find that out," Nelson said.
The amusement here is how most (if not all) states compute sales tax (charged when you register the vehicle.)
When you buy a new car you pay tax on the difference between the new car's purchase price and the trade-in you present to the dealer. This is an intentional distortion in the law that is intended to favor dealers over private-party used car sales; if you sell your used car privately the new buyer pays sales tax but you do not get the offset on the purchase of your replacement vehicle - the only way to get that is to trade the car.
Dealers use

Cult classic RED DAWN remake in pre-production, filming starts in September

RED DAWN, the first ever PG-13 rated movie, which was controversial when it openned, but retained a loyal fan base,...is being remade by MGM.
Filming in Detroit (perhaps because it already resembles a DMZ) and southern Michigan, the actors are not only different, but the plot has been changed as well. The Cold War is over, after all, and the Cubans can't even make it to Miami.

Back Woods Home
It's called the Ammunition Accountability Act (AAA). You've got to love the name. It sounds so noble. But remember the great gun writer, Mel Tappan's, universal rule of law: "The nobler the language, the more nefarious the purpose of any legal instrument."
It's been proposed in 18 states and, with some minor difference among them, here's what it will do once enacted:
Each box of ammo you buy will have a unique number.
Each round in the box will have a laser-etched number on the base of the bullet and on the inside of the cartridge case that corresponds to the number on the box.
Each time you buy ammo you will have to show ID with your name, date of birth, driver's license, etc., to be recorded so the box will be tied to you.
There will be a 5¢ tax on each and every round in the box. This "tax" will be to support the database.
You will have to maintain records if you give or sell ammo to relatives or friends. (And the above tax wou

Market Watch...
Guess what? The Federal Reserve has not only stopped depositing copious amounts of liquidity into the economy -- it now appears to be in the process of making a sizable withdrawal.
A close look at quantitative measures of monetary policy reveals a sudden change in trend. After growing at unprecedented rates for well over a year, these aggregates stopped rising several months ago and have since declined, according to data provided by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
What could this mean for YOU?
Get Ready for Interest Rate Shocks
One of the important messages coming out of the central banker’s annual retreat in Jackson Hole, Wyoming is that once the crisis is over the Federal Reserve’s (Fed) tightening of monetary policy may be abrupt. If so, increases in short term interest rates will not be gradual but jarring. The reasoning behind this approach, as I understand it, is that (1) since there could be political pressures to monetize the government d

Banking Crisis Dwarfs Depression
08-25-2009
•
The Street
Four more banks went into Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. receivership on Friday, bringing to 81 the total of FDIC actions in 2009. Including FDIC bank closings in 2008, the total for the current financial crisis is now 104. Assets of these 104 banks totaled $146.7 billion. How does this compare with other crises in recent history?
The worst banking crisis since the Great Depressionwas, until 2008, the savings and loan crisis that spanned 10 years from the 1980s into the 1990s. Total assets involved in that crisis were $519 billion. Adjusting for inflation, using the consumer price index, that is $923 billion in 2009 dollars. That dwarfs the current size of bank failures under the FDIC program in this crisis.

I don't know if you have seen the latest news regarding Union Members and $10 Billion being shuffled in for them in the healthcare bill? I am wondering how this is going to sit with the other Animals in BO's kingdom who will get no COLA increase and will in effect have their standard of living reduced since for some their Medicaire Premium's Part B the cost is rising and Part D for all will also go up.
All this taking place while at the same time The Obama administration, citing an economic downturn that has been deeper than it had first thought, raised its estimate of the government's deficit over the next decade to $9 trillion from $7.1 trillion. That of couse does not factor in the interest rate on our Debt or other NEW spending.
There is a lesson to be learned from all of this. In Banana Republics and all forms of government that end with an "ism" some animals are MORE equal then others!

Cash for Crappers
08-24-2009
•
http://papatodd.com
You can always count on the Tucson City Council for a good laugh. Today’s snort? A rebate program to replace that old toilet. Yes, that’s right its the Cash for Crappers program. Read on my friends…
Is your toilet a clunker?
Well, if it was made before 1991 and uses more than 3' gallons per flush, then you’ve got a clunker.
And Tucson Water wants you to get rid of it. The utility is offering to pay half the cost of high-efficiency toilets for its customers to get rid of the water-wasting potties. The high-efficiency toilets use less than 1.3 gallons per flush. Mind you, these are not to be confused with low-flow toilets, which use about 1.6 gallons per flush.

On Oct. 15, 2004, Mary Elizabeth Schipke entered the Oracle post

the clerk behind the counter, she told her: "God, I pray a bomb falls

Almost a year later, Schipke was convicted of threatening a federal

Although now free and on supervised release, Schipke, 51, continues

Gives Obama 2008 pass, but would require papers in 2012
Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., has decided that while President Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office may not be subject to an immediate court challenge, if the president runs for a second term, he should be required to prove he is qualified.
As WND reported, Franks told a townhall meeting in Kingman, Ariz., over the weekend he was considering a lawsuit to establish Obama's eligibility. More:

Ron Paul’s Economic Theories Winning GOP Converts
08-24-2009

David Weigel
A funny thing has started happening to Paul since his long-shot
presidential campaign ended quietly in the summer of 2008. More
Republicans have started listening to him. There are the media requests
from Fox Business Channel and talk radio, where he’s given airtime to
inveigh on sound money and macroeconomics. There is HR 1207
, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, a bill that would
launch an audit of the Federal Reserve System, and which has attracted
112 co-sponsors. When Paul introduced the Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act just two years ago, no other members of Congress signed on.
And then there are the luncheons. The off-the-record talks have
brought in speakers such as ex-CIA counterterrorism expert Michael
Scheuer, libertarian investigative reporter James Bovard, iconoclastic
terrorism scholar Robert Pape, and George Washington University law
professor Jonathan Turley. Perhaps the most influential guest has been Thomas Woods,
