Be careful about offering advice without a license. Government will get you every time for it.

Instead, label it as a personal opinion, a suggestion, or an open invitation of some kind.

The same thing happened to my wife last week.  I changed the battery and the starter twice before figuring out she broke a timing chain and lunched the whole motor.

It could also be a loose battery cable...
