There are a lot of mitigating circumstances that could exist, such as hiring out to a commercial ship to guard against Somali pirates... but just being told that he's a merc in the Middle East leaves too many questions to make a sound judgement.  If I found out that Buppert is aggressing against the natives of other lands on behalf of the US or any other state, I would no longer share what he writes.  Don't need the help of a hypocrite to promote the movement.

I actually agree with you on this, and have asked him the same thing many times. Unfortunately, as a result of my stance, many in this area have done what they can to make me look bad.

Active support of the imperial war effort is wrong, always. But 6 figures will change anyones morals...or?

How can someone promote Non-aggression and then do anything in support of imperial wars?  Making money doesn't absolve a libertarian of everything they do.  I've always enjoyed and shared his writing and interviews, but it's pretty disturbing to hear he's working as a merc to assist the state while claiming to be an anarchist... would love to have more understanding about this seeming contradiction.
