In the 1960s this group of rogue DJs, on a boat in the middle of the Northern Atlantic, played rock records and broke the law all for the love of music. The songs they played united and defined an entire generation and drove the British government cr

Libertarian Talker Pulls Big Publicity Coup. Phoenix-based talk host and libertarian activist Ernest Hancock took the media for a ride as the orchestrator of the “man with the assault rifle at the Obama health care rally.” By now you’ve seen video of “Chris,” the well-dressed black man with the rifle over his shoulder being interviewed by Hancock at the recent Phoenix event. CNN’s Rick Sanchez ran with the story as did other media outlets questioning why someone would need to have a loaded rifle at a rally where the president was appearing. That’s legal in Arizona and Hancock later admitted to Sanchez on CNN that they told the police they would be there and it was indeed designed to bring attention to Second Amendment rights. Hancock’s “Declare Your Independence” show is available on the internet and several terrestrial stations. Hancock also operates the libertarian-oriented news portal and website freedomsphoenix.com.

Sen. Charles Grassley is worried that Obama administration’s new federal communications "diversity" director may try to regulate talk radio with a "backdoor" method akin to the Fairness Doctrine.

The Iowa Republican expressed his concerns because of a paper in which Mark Lloyd, the diversity director, alleged a “structural imbalance” in political talk radio and suggested increasing government involvement to regulate it. Lloyd co-authored the paper for the liberal Center for American Progress.

Grassley sent a letter Friday to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski voicing strong disagreement with the idea that government needs to regulate talk radio and arguing that a return to the Fairness Doctrine would end the diversity of views on the airwaves.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced a new “Chief Diversity Officer,” communications attorney Mark Lloyd.

But Doctor of Jurisprudence Lloyd is far more than merely a communications attorney. He was at one time a Senior Fellow at the uber-liberal Center for American Progress (CAP), for whom he co-wrote a June 2007 report entitled “The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio.”

Which rails against the fact that the American people overwhelmingly prefer to listen to conservative (and Christian) talk radio rather than the liberal alternative, and suggests ways the federal government can remedy this free-market created “problem.”

* Restore local and national caps on the ownership of commercial radio stations.
* Ensure greater local accountability over radio licensing.
* Require commercial owners who fail to abide by enforceable public interest obligations to pay a fee to support public broadcasting.

If you’re a concerned citizen, deeply worried about where America is headed politically, disgusted by the media-ignored threats, fed up with the relentless attacks on our freedoms and beliefs, and concerned about the taxing effects on our way of life.

White supremacist radio host Hal Turner was an FBI informant, his lawyer revealed in court today. The announcement is a confirmation of what hackers claimed nearly a year ago after allegedly gaining access to his e-mails.

Turner was arrested on June 24 for allegedly calling for the murder of three judges who supported the Chicago gun ban. The confession by his attorney came at a bond hearing Tuesday.

"Attorney Michael Orozco [...] said his client gave authorities information about a plot to assassinate President Barack Obama," reported the Associated Press.

However, prosecutors said they had no information about the alleged plot, but did confirm Turner had a relationship with the bureau. Attorney William Hogan told the wire service that relationship had ended "some time ago."
