A dozen armed people showed up to welcome Obama to Phoenix. My take on the aftermath. I was there. I was packing.
What we need to realize is that
there WAS a regulatory structure in place that was attempting to stop
bad management, including overpaying executives. That
regulatory structure is the free market, and when poor management
brought these companies to the point of bankruptcy, Congress
circumvented the wisdom of the free market, and inserted its own
judgment at our expense. And now because of that intervention, we will burdened with massive new regulations. We can be certain this effort will fail.
Snitching Blog is devoted to a part of our criminal system that most
people know little or nothing about: criminal informants, or
"snitches."
At any given moment, thousands of informants are in the
system trying to work off their own criminal liability by giving
information to the government. These informants may be in court, in
prison, on the street, or in the workplace.
Police and prosecutors
often rely heavily on information obtained from snitches. This is
especially true in drug enforcement, but also for investigations of
white collar crime, organized crime, and terrorism.
In fact, it is
impossible to fully understand the U.S. legal system without
understanding snitching. Nevertheless, snitching remains shrouded in
secrecy and confusion.

As the healthcare debate rages on, there is one reality that even the proponents of this hostile takeover of healthcare by government cannot ignore – and that is money. It might seem harmless to decide people have a right to education, employment, housing or healthcare. But if we look at the consequences, we see the workings of the community and economy are thrown wildly off balance when people accept those ideas.
Claims are made that auditing the Fed would compromise its independence. However, by independence, they really mean secrecy. The Fed clearly cherishes its vast power to create and spend trillions of dollars, diluting the value of every other dollar in circulation, making deals with other central banks, and bailing out cronies, all to the detriment of the taxpayer, and to the enrichment of themselves. I am happy to challenge this type of “independence”.
This
country was founded on principles of freedom from overbearing rulers,
onerous taxation, and the right to live our lives as we see fit. Our
independence was won after decades, and even centuries of abuses that
unscrupulous, corrupted leaders and big governments visited upon their
subjects. The Founders knew there was a better way, and they forged it here on this soil.

The Senate agreed Monday to take up legislation to triple the size of the AmeriCorps program.Lawmakers voted 74-14 to move to the legislation. The measure is expected to come up for a final vote in the Senate sometime this week.
The distraction on Capitol Hill this week has to do with the jackpot bonuses that executives at AIG recently received. The argument is over a relative drop in the bucket. The total amount of bonuses given out was $165 million.
